My Second Day At Work
May 11, 2010
I just completed my second day working for Moxie Sozo. Fortunately I don't do landscaping or any other outdoor activity because I am not used to the Colorado climate at all. Yesterday it was seventy-five and sunny, but today it was around forty and raining. Tomorrow it is supposed to snow six inches! I can't wrap my head around that! It is my summer vacation, man!
The picture you see, is my view from the roof entrance to the studio. The mountains are right there and the Pearl Street Walking Mall is right below me. Moxie Sozo is in the perfect location. When you walk up to the studio you enter through eleven foot tall wooden doors that look like they are from the middle ages. When you step inside you are instantly immersed with a retro / rustic style. On the walls hang exotic animal busts that include a hippopotamus. There is an owl who watches over the bar and in front of that is a luxurious living room set that would be suited in any proper ski lodge.
My office is shared with three web developers and above my 24" iMac is Milton Glaser's Bob Dylan poster. I am sure it will be inspiring at least once during my tour. My desk is opposite the windows that look out onto the walking mall and to my left is a fellow intern and database expert, Grayson Scherer. Today we ate lunch at a Boar's Head Sub Shop and it was super tasty.
If you walk outside of my office you have the option to turn right into Leif's office or left into the main living space. After five thirty I can hear my office mates playing foosball on our rare Bonzini table.
There is also a full pantry that today I snagged some Oreos from. I am pretty dependent on snacking so it is a good thing that Moxie gets a lot of free food from clients.
Presently I am working on a flash animation that will loop at the foot of a website. It is supposed to look like a meadow with lots of interesting animations happening. A bird lands on a deer's antlers. A wind turbine spins in the background. Even a fish jumps up out of a plausible hole in the ground. Charles Bloom, Moxie's Art Director, has been giving me helpful hints on how to make the animation better. Pretty soon the footer of the website may turn into the focus of the entire site if I keep working at it.
