The Start of a New Chapter

May 9, 2010

Today I arrived in beautiful Boulder, Colorado after a twenty hour drive with Justin. My cousin Nicole's boyfriend picked me up in a yellow U-Haul at Purdue University yesterday evening and we drove straight through the country to Colorado. I can never stay awake during road trips and so I dosed off at about eleven, but Justin soldiered through only to take a two hour nap on the cold grass of a truck stop in Kansas. It must have looked pretty strange to see a body wrapped up in sheets, but I was able to stretch across the two seats in the cab.

Colorado is so peculiar because the mountains do not start until you reach Boulder. You can not even see them for the longest time because the eastern bit of the state is terribly flat. I don't think I would be too far off to say that more cattle live there than people.

Despite the bland territory, the ride was not as horrible as I thought it was going to be. My butt was never sore and even though we were without the comfort of my iPod, the four radio stations in the middle of no where kept us entertained.

We first arrived in Denver to unload the truck and get Justin settled. After two hours and yummy slices of pineapple we were off thirty minutes south to my new home. It is a beautiful purple house with three stories that every resident has claimed is nicer than the house they grew up in and I concur. This place is the most amazing accommodations in college living in history!

After I moved all of my things upstairs I decided to use the facilities and a full day in a car will do crazy things to my body. Ironically I clogged the toilet, however was very satisfied with how well I kept my composure. Especially after I could not find a plunger in the house. I didn't worry though, and the first roommate I met, Sam, didn't mind at all either. Everyone in Boulder is so nice!

I decided to stretch my legs and took a ride around town. I wen to the Whole Foods and bought rice and tofu, then went to Target to pick up a plunger. Boulder is going to be amazing and I can not wait to start working at Moxie Sozo in eleven hours.
