The Last Solo Monkey Show in Matthews
April 4, 2010
In the next month The Crazy Monkeys have five shows and one of them is this Friday. Specifically, it will be the last time that John Schuster performs in Matthews solely with The Monkeys. On April 24th Big Dog Eat Child will join us in the hall, but officially, this show is John's send off from Matthews.
Our schedule is pretty insane for the next three weeks. April 8th there is a potential show at The Egyptian. April 9th is in Matthews. April 16th through the 18th The Monkeys will be at Oberlin College's Comedy Festival performing and being taught by The Upright Citizen's Brigade. April 23rd The Monkeys perform their last show at Greyhouse. And April 24th is the Big Dog Eat Child show for The Grand Alternative during Grand Prix Week. And this isn't related to The Monkeys, but the Sunday that we get back from Oberlin, Girl Talk is doing a free show at Slayter Hill! Thankfully my classes are nearly complete and so I legitimately have time to do all these fun Monkey Adventures. Everyone is super excited.
Friday's show will be a new format for us. Half short-form games for a half hour, then the rest of the hour is a tight knit Clap-in. We practiced the format during practice last Wednesday and it worked really well. When the Clap-ins are shorter there is less opportunity to venture into Whacky Land. We will find out for sure when the show comes around and this time I plan to have it all recorded and on the site.
As usual you can download the poster for the show here. Hang them up all over town and help us spread the word. Also I hope you enjoy this show's poster just as much as the others. I designed it on my laptop during the car ride home from Easter Dinner at Mike Dodaro's house. That was me being super efficient with time! Another reason why I will sixty-five per cent not be buying Pokemon and a Nintendo DSi. Rats.
